The Science

How Wicking Cells Deliver Water

Wicking is a water-efficient growing method that draws moisture up from a subsurface reservoir directly to plant roots — only as needed.

1

Water Stored Below

The reservoir sits below the planting medium. Water is added via an inlet pipe and stored until needed.

2

Capillary Action

Perlite-filled wicking legs draw moisture upward through capillary action — the same process plants use to drink.

3

Root Zone Delivery

Moisture reaches the root zone precisely when needed. Roots grow downward toward the water source.
