A modular sub-surface reservoir system designed for raised beds, planters, rooftops and commercial landscapes. WaterUps® Wicking Cells deliver water directly to the root zone while reducing evaporation and ongoing maintenance.
We retrofitted WaterUps cells into 60 existing street planters. Within 6 months, plant mortality dropped to near zero and watering visits were reduced dramatically.

WaterUps® cells are available in multiple sizes to suit planter configurations.
Wicking is a water-efficient growing method that draws moisture up from a subsurface reservoir directly to plant roots — only as needed.
The reservoir sits below the planting medium. Water is added via an inlet pipe and stored until needed.
Perlite-filled wicking legs draw moisture upward through capillary action — the same process plants use to drink.
Moisture reaches the root zone precisely when needed. Roots grow downward toward the water source.
