Irrigation Automation

The WaterUps® Solenoid Reservoir Controller automatically monitors the water level in your wicking reservoir and fills it when it gets too low — stopping before overflow. Fully automated, zero-waste irrigation for commercial landscape installations.

System Operation

How the Controller Works

A simple, reliable four-step cycle that keeps your wicking reservoir at the optimal level — automatically, around the clock.

01

Sensor Monitors Level

The float sensor sits inside the reservoir and continuously tracks the water level. No manual checking required.

02

Low Level Detected

When the water level drops below the configured threshold (typically 20–30% of reservoir capacity), the controller triggers the solenoid valve to open.

03

Reservoir Fills

Water flows through the solenoid valve from the connected supply (mains, tank, or recycled water) and fills the reservoir from below.

04

Full Level Reached — Valve Closes

When the reservoir reaches the configured full level (below the overflow pipe), the controller closes the solenoid valve. The system returns to monitoring mode.

Features

What Makes It Different

Automatic Reservoir Monitoring

The float sensor continuously monitors the water level in the reservoir. When the level drops below the configured threshold, the solenoid valve opens and begins filling.

Overflow Prevention

The controller automatically shuts off the solenoid valve before the reservoir reaches overflow level — protecting the planting medium from waterlogging and preventing water waste.

Low-Power Operation

Designed for low-power operation, the controller is compatible with solar-powered installations — ideal for remote streetscape and park installations without mains power access.

Configurable Thresholds

Fill trigger and shutoff levels are field-adjustable to suit different reservoir depths, plant species, and seasonal requirements.

Compatible with BMS & SCADA

The controller can be integrated with building management systems (BMS) and SCADA platforms for centralised monitoring of large commercial and civic installations.

Optional Remote Monitoring

An optional IoT module provides real-time reservoir level data and fill event logging via a web dashboard — suitable for large-scale urban greening programs.

Applications

Where Automation Makes the Difference

Large-Scale Streetscapes

Automate filling across hundreds of SIC channel installations in a single streetscape — eliminating manual watering entirely.

Rooftop & Podium Gardens

Remote-access rooftop gardens benefit most from automation — no staff required to monitor or fill reservoirs.

Public Parks & Civic Spaces

Reduce maintenance crew visits and ensure consistent plant health in high-visibility public spaces.

Stormwater Reuse Systems

Connect the controller to a stormwater tank — the system automatically draws from captured rainwater before switching to mains supply.

Community & School Gardens

Ideal for installations where regular maintenance is not guaranteed — the system keeps plants healthy during school holidays and weekends.

Hotel & Hospitality

Maintain lush, healthy planting in high-profile hospitality settings without relying on maintenance staff to monitor water levels.
